My name is Michael Downs, and I’ve been taking photos since the early 1970′s, but became a serious amateur in 1985 when I bought my first underwater camera (Nikonos IV-A). Since that time I’ve invested in several 35mm land cameras, done much reading, attended a number of seminars, and taken many more photographs. A few years ago, I felt that my images had improved enough that, with the encouragement of family & friends, I began to market them. These days I shoot both film (yes, I can be a little old-fashioned) and digital. I currently live in South Florida and enjoy the variety of photo opportunities available throughout the area. My images include photography of both wild and captive animals, scenics of both natural and man-made vistas, and underwater locations from Florida, the Caribbean, and Mexico. I also photograph aerospace and nautical subjects. My posts on this site will be devoted to telling the stories behind my images. I hope you will find them both interesting and enjoyable.
